Jom Support IAW !

Marilah kita sama-sama memeriahkan lagi program Islamic Awareness Week yang berlangsung sepanjang minggu ini. Boleh lihat tentatif di bawah.

Jika kita tidak mampu nak support dengan wang ringgit, namun sekurang-kurangnya kita sebenarnya mampu untuk support dengan menghadirkan diri ke program-program yang telah diaturkan.


Nama pun Islamic Awareness Week, maka program-program yang telah disusun oleh Muslim Student Association in Vanderbilt ini, tidak lari daripada matlamat yang satu yakni untuk memberi kesedaran tentang Islam yang syumul dan luas ini kepada para pelajar Vandy terutama yang bukan Islam.


Namun, jika orang Islam sendiri tidak mampu untuk meluangkan masa mereka sedikit untuk program-program berunsurkan Islam, bagaimana mungkin orang bukan Islam akan tertarik dengan program-program seperti ini? Fikir-fikirkanlah sahabat-sahabat sekalian!


Ajaklah kenalan-kenalan anda yang bukan Islam (yang bukan sedikit) ke program-program ini. Inilah peluang keemasan kita untuk menyampaikan Islam kepada mereka. Jika kita kasih kepada mereka, sepertimana kita bergelak ketawa, bergurau senda dengan mereka, janganlah kita biarkan mereka berada dalam gelap Jahiliyyah lagi, yang hanya akan membawa mereka kepada tangisan di akhirat kelak.

MONDAY 7:00 PM FEBRUARY 22, 2010 SARRATT CINEMA -- WHY ISLAM?

Muslim converts talk about their entry into and experiences with Islam. Why did they choose to convert? Why Islam? How did their decision affect other aspects of their life? These are all questions you can ask them as a panel of Muslims will be available to the general audience.


TUESDAY 6:30 PM RECEPTION 7:00 PM PERFORMANCES FEBRUARY 23, 2010 SARRATT CINEMA -- EXPRESSING *MY* ISLAM

How Muslim Americans deal creatively with being Muslim in America through music, poetry and comedy. Featuring the talented New-York based Muslim American comedian, Aman Ali (http://amanali.net/) and performances by your fellow Muslim students.

WEDNESDAY 4:00 PM FEBRUARY 24, 2010 SARRATT PROMENADE -- INTERNATIONAL FAIR

This event will feature a vibrant display of cultures and countries around the globe as reflected within our own community here at Vanderbilt!


THURSDAY 7:00 PM FEBRUARY 25, 2010 SARRATT CINEMA -- MUSLIM InterACTIONS

Come listen to Rami Nashashibi, the executive director of the Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), speak on Thursday. Learn how Muslims interact with the greater community through service, civic engagement, and participation in social justice movements. Mr. Nashashibi will talk about his own work in Chicago's Southside working with minority and urban communities to dampen the pervasive symptoms of inner city poverty and abandonment. FRIDAY 12:20 PM FEBRUARY 26, 2010 ALL FAITHS CHAPEL -- OPEN FRIDAY PRAYER (JUMAAH)

Prayer is a daily part of a Muslim's life, while the Friday Jumaah prayer is perhaps the most significant. Come experience a weekly Muslim spiritual tradition.

There are also two other events later that night:
1) Brothers Sports Night at the Rec. There will be competitions in soccer, basketball, etc.
2) Sister Social Night in Cole Study Lounge
